Departed from Hong Kong international airport with 3 Typhoons surrounding the Hong Kong Area!! Fortunately, we arrived Okinawa safely via a small plane 737 (3 seats on each side)- Hong Kong Express Airline UO658.
We arrived Okinawa after the 2+ hour flight and we immediately took the Monorail to check-in at our hotel in Naha City - Toyoko Inn. Then, we bought a Day Pass for 600Yen/ person to take the Monorail to Shuri Castle (首里城公園).
Shuri Castle (首里城公園): The Castle of the former Ryukyu Kingdom (琉球王國). It was under construction; but we could still see how Okinawa people were trying to preserve their heritage. There were two floors in the main building. The lower floor was for the King and the officials to discuss the politics and the upper floor was for the greetings of the officials and the guests. We entered the castle from the right wing where we had to remove our shoes and put them in a plastic bag to carry with us until we left the castle from the left wing.
We walked around in the castle until sunset and to our surprises, the castle was decorated with spot lights at the evening and it gives the whole castle another feeling. It was a quiet and peaceful place to visit.
